IDLE? KNOW MORE!
This year's conference has been inspired by the spirit of the amazing global Indigenous led movement which began here in Saskatoon. Idle No More organizers have focused on educating the public regarding Indigenous rights and environmental issues, and connecting identity markers such as race, gender, class, sexuality, and ability to policies and practices of inequality and colonial oppression.
This conference will framed by the following question: What do we need to know, as educators and community members, in order to challenge practices of inequality in ourselves, our schools and communities?
This Conference will begin with opening remarks by SAFE Co-chair Sheelah McLean, who is also one of the first organizers in the Idle No More movement. Participants will then break into discussion groups with facilitators to discuss/share resources and praxis.
These sessions will be supportive and interactive!!!
